Why is there no PlayStation 5 for sale?

The semiconductor crisis is not only affecting the automotive industry. Video game consoles, such as the PS5, are not seeing the light of day due to the shortage of this essential component and its extremely high demand, which cannot be met.

Last September 2, in an interview with Bloomberg, the director in charge of semiconductors, Takeshi Kamebuchi, stated that “chip supply will remain just as tight until at least September next year.”

Even without the production capacity to meet all the demand, PS5 has already sold 13.4 million units worldwide.

In turn, they expect to sell more than 22.6 million PS5 units between April 2022 and March 2023.
